Otgo Waller's Twisted Life

The Cambridge dictionary defines the word 'contortion' as the act of twisting or bending violently or unnaturally into a different shape or form, otherwise the shape or form into which something is twisted or bent. That is exactly the life of Otgo Waller.

Waller is a professional contortionist and the creator and owner of Flexible Body Art LLC ™-2016 technique and school. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a contortionist in the shadow of the holy mountain Bogd Uul near the Mongolian capital city of Ulaanbaatar. When she had reached the age of 13, she was considered one of the best contortionists in the world. Graduating from the Mongolian State Circus in 1980, she specialized in Contortion Art. She appeared on Mongolia's postage stamp as one of the most prestigious contortionists in Mongolia and 1991, and she was discovered by the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey circus and immigrated to America, where her career took a wonderful turn.

She was featured in different TV shows, music videos, and live events. Her choreographic works have been featured in the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening and Closing ceremonies, The International Contortion Convention, and the San Diego Circus. After performing for so many years, she wanted to teach the world the art of contortion and flexibility and created her own training technique to help individuals become more flexible. Otgo has trained people of all ages and levels. Perhaps the most notable ones include Olympic athletes, top professional contortionists, circus artists, international high fashion models, competitive bodybuilders, and national-level ice skaters.

In 2017, she pursued a writing career and became an author, publishing her first book entitled Twisted Tales: My Life as a Mongolian Contortionist, where she narrates the story of how she fell in love with contortionism and persevered to become one of the top contortionists even if the journey was not smooth. This is where she tells of her devotion and passion in the art of contortionism which had provided her with success and opportunities. In 2019, she published her second book Flexible Spine Youthful You: Flexibility and Mobility Exercises based on the Art of Mongolian Contortion, which features the Flexible Body Art from the Otgo Waller Method and exercises that focus on spine health and alignment that aims to increase overall flexibility and mobility throughout the body because when the spine is aligned, everything will be fine.

According to Waller, she was inspired to write this book to tell the world of her experiences. A past that has been filled with so many obstacles and challenges as someone being born and raised in a socialist Mongolia. As a child, she began to study contortion, and when she became a professional at a young age, she took it upon herself to support her family and represent her country. Life was not easy as so many people were putting pressure on her, and they have hurt her in so many ways, but she had found to forgive and accept her every circumstance, and who she was and in writing the book is a healing journey for her and to serve as an inspiration for others.

Lastly, she reminds the readers that finding love can help heal the wounds we have gathered.
