Zanzibar and his Zany Crew of Sentence Constructors By Linda Smith Masi

Linda Smith Masi's book, Zanzibar and his Zany Crew of Sentence Constructors gives readers a course of English using engaging and entertaining reading experiences that make learning more fun and effective for them. Her book uses the true, amazing story of the Ancient Library of Alexandria, Egypt, its' burning, and later reconstruction as a context for a fanciful story.

Zanzibar's tale follows Ali and his crew on the Intergalactic Space Station as they observe Alexandria, in ancient Egypt, thousands of years in the past. The famous Library of Alexandria is burning. Here the fantastic story begins when the educated people in the city at that time have decided to reconstruct the lost contents of the Library by writing many books again, both old and new. Made is a decision to reconstruct the books using English. Doing so reflects the proliferation of the English language. The specificity of English results in the widespread, efficient use of the language. More concepts expressing the same content in English may be stored in a computer’s hard disk drive than in many other languages, enabling efficient use of computer storage space. A new Library of Alexandria, in reality, is open on the shores of The Mediterranean Sea. It is a digital library and available and in use today.

In this story, users will read a fictionalized account of the reconstruction of the books of the original Library of Alexandria built by King Alexander the Great, once destroyed in the fire thousands of years ago and learn English grammar rules simultaneously.
