Rediscovering One's Self and Recovering from Abusive Relationships

Lorraine Gokul's "I Need to Find Me" is a work for women who have resolved to go on a journey of self-discovery and recovery after experiencing abuse, or those who are trapped in relationships and need to escape but are too overwhelmed to exercise proper judgment. This is a story that fuses the facts and realities of emotional trauma with riveting fiction to give readers a gripping story of a woman seeking to escape an abusive marriage.

"I Need to Find Me" follows Abella, who has had enough of the emotionally and physically abusive marriage she’s enduring. She has a brief love affair that only devastates her further. At the same time, she grapples with the reality of growing old, which she greatly fears. So she embarks on a quest to find herself and faces challenges in doing so. This is further complicated when her prominent grandfather grows sick, causing her to travel to her family in Spain, the country that she fled from decades ago. There she rekindles her feelings for her bodyguard, Miguel Castillo. When her grandfather finally passes, she is made an heir, but this only leads to the inheritance of further pain and suffering as secrets are revealed.

Will Abella finally be able to overcome all the pain and suffering that seems to follow her? Or will she succumb to this multi-generational morass and finally discover herself and set her life straight? She has her work cut out for her, as she must contend with the will of powerful and treacherous forces that have manipulated the lives of innocents and caused them so much sorrow, death, and heartache.

Gokul's work is an exploration of the struggle women face in their healing journeys and how they must reckon with societal and familial pressures. As well as the challenge of finding new love after escaping abusive relationships.

"I Need to Find Me" compliments Gokul's other novels, "My Intimate Dream Lover" and "Will Love Justify Everything? Does Love Overcome the Injustices of Life?" The former tells the story of a woman who wakes up from a coma, discovers that her fiancé has died, and claims that she is seeing a lover in her dreams, which leads others to believe she has lost her mind. The latter story follows a woman who survives being attacked and, after years of recovery, falls in love and marries the man of her dreams - who has a terrible secret.
