The Pandemic Difficulty: Man-made or Natural?

As we always admire the beauty of science and how it contributes to making our lives more accessible throughout the years, we can't help but also notice its possible destruction to humanity. During the spread of the virus throughout the world, people suggest conspiracies that this disease is intentionally made to shake down other countries. Even Trump, the current president of America, is suggesting this matter. In other words, all of these are just assumptions without concrete evidence.

However, in Li-Meng Yan (MD, Ph.D.), Shu Kang (Ph.D.), Jie Guan (Ph.D.), and Shanchang Hu (Ph.D.), they suggest in their study titled, Unusual Features of the SARS-CoV-2 Genome Suggesting Sophisticated Laboratory Modification Rather Than Natural Evolution and Delineation of Its Probable Synthetic Route. It tackles the controversial issue of the disease and why its root remains unexplainable. While they state that the disease is initially found in bats, this article suggests the other way. To know more about their study, you are free to read and learn with their written works.

Indeed, their study concerning our current events enlightens us that perhaps—our enemy is not the pandemic. But for ourselves and our fellowmen. One major factor why the disease keeps spreading is that its carrier never considers others' lives and instead goes out and talks with everyone rather than staying at home and getting healthy. In addition to that, if the disease is proven as a human-made invention, then that only portrays a horrible omen—where people are decided to kill one another for power and money.

We can also learn from this study instead of throwing assumptions publicly, and we could make a way to prove these premises. In other words, our harsh words won't help to improve the situation. Instead, it only arouses anger toward one another. Even though many people are currently conducting studies about the disease, questioning whether it is a laboratory modification or a natural evolution—the best thing we can do right now stays in our home and be kind to one another. Because eventually, when this dilemma has finally come to its end, the truth shall prevail.

In these times, where everyone is struggling, showing compassion is challenging. But on the other hand, this is the best thing we can do to ease the heaviness of the situation. After all, chasing truth in times of struggle will always have a bigger reward at the end of the day.
